TLDR: How do you exit an investment when in the green?
I invested as the market dropped post-Covid. It was the entry point I needed. I hit indexes and Amazon. Amazon won out, so I effectively transferred everything there.
My portfolio was literally 100% AMZN. Risky but no way Amazon would ever lose 40% gains I'd accrued. Then it went sideways for 18 months. Then everything happened. The fall. And the fall-fall. (And probably a further fall.)
Lessons learned: always diversify; markets CAN be more extreme than you think. (Yes, I'm dumb.)
I also feel I should've taken profits at the top, but wanted to hold for life.
How do others take profits? What's your strategy? Do you DCA out, or take at key % points?
I wanted to hold for life, truly long-term, and it ended up kicking me in the nuts.
