Kamoa Kakula
Ivanhoe Mines is raking in cash due to high copper prices, but much of this cash is going into growth.
Ivanhoe Mines is one of the world's highest grade copper miners; profitability might decline less as the copper price falls during a recession compared with low grade miners.
The company has plans to continue to expand copper production at its Kamoa Kakula project.
The company has been able to control operation costs by avoiding exposing itself to fossil fuels as an energy source in its Kamoa Kakula Project, and has plans to lower costs further by using an alternate transportation route.
Platreef Project
The company acquired stream financing to develop its Platreef Platinum, Palladium, Rhodium, Gold, Nickel, Copper project, taking advantage of today's high prices for Gold and Palladium. This means they will receive less for the gold and palladium if it produces, but got cash today.
It recently invested in a high grade helium and gas junior to secure energy supplies for its Platreef project, and has begun construction of its own solar power plant, avoiding problems with South Africa's buckling power grid.
Kipushi Project
The Kipushi Project has the incredible grade of 35% zinc. This should bring tears to the eye of all who behold it.
Western Foreland Project
Are there more Kamoa Kakulas beneath the Congolese soil? Or is this just a waste of money?
