How can I find out if an old stock certificate has any value? It’s the usual story- it belonged to a now-deceased grandparent.

So far, I have tried Google searches, calls to various states’ unclaimed property divisions, searches of the CUSIP #, and a few other avenues. All have come up empty thus far.
